Just a quick update to anyone following this post. Richard Martell and myself had our first sparring session over the weekend. We are both just starting out with ARMA but the experience was priceless. Going from reading methods and doing air drills and countless footwork excercises, to facing an actual opponent put the whole thing into perspective. Granted, we didn't suddenly have all the answers but it sure helps to have that response from a real live person. As you all know to well a pell doesn't hit back so the interaction of blade against blade really shows were you are in your training. We are both fully aware that this session was just a baby step in our never ending paths on the road of swordsmanship, but as anyone with children knows baby steps are often the most cherished.
