God be with him and his family. They'll be in our prayers out here in Provo. Oakeshott is where so many of us got our start. Please send them our condolences. _________________ Sen. Free Scholar

Mr. Oakeshott will be sorely missed. Where would we be today without his work?

A very sad lose for us all and he and his work will be sadly missed. May he be at peace and may God look over him and his family. They are in our prayers.

In Memorial of Ewart Oakeshott
This last Monday evening we lost a great force in the world. Ewart Oakeshott left us after a life that had few equals. The contributions he made to the world of arms and armor have inspired us all and been a huge influence on the passion we all share for the study and appreciation of history.
We will sorely miss his guidance and boundless knowledge.
Those wishing to express their appreciation may send email and correspondence to the Oakeshott Institute and it will be passed on to Sibyl and the family.

| It didn't come as a surprise, but I'm sorry to hear that the great man has passed away. He lived a full life, and his contributions will make his name immortal. |

Jonhn Clements was telling us at dinner the other day that Mr. Oakeshott was feeling depressed not being able to read, or even hold his swords. I am grieved at this loss, but I am relieved that his suffering is over. _________________ Derek Wassom

Ewart's passing saddens and diminishes us all. Although expected for some time, it is always a lost. His wisdom and knowledge guided us and was a personal inspiration to myself and to ARMA. I will cherish my metting him and the assistance and compliments he paid.
ARMA will feature a special tribute to Ewart soon.

This is truly saddening. I was just checking up on and thinking of ordering one or two Oakeshott books, and then I come in here only to recieve such sad news as these.
One of the greats has passed on. At least now he will have been freed from all darkness and pain. I truly hope he finds peace at last.
My regards and condoleances to Oakeshott's friends and family. _________________ -----------------------------------

Again, I repeat the words of others in saying that we honor the passing of a great man. John, we are all looking forward to any tribute you may put together.

| His passing is a great loss to us all but he will live on through his wonderful collection of weapons and his insightful books. May he rest in peace. |

Salute! At least his legacy will live on as long as there is even one Swordsman left to remember. _________________ Shane Smith~ARMA Forum Moderator
