8:45 - Doors open and informal warm up time

9:00 - Introduction & Historical Background Lecture: The Medieval Combat & the Long-sword ("great-swords, war-swords, bastard-swords, two-handed-sword ?")

9:30 - Fundamentals of German & Italian Masters of Defence:

           Fighting Stances & Postures
           "Drew Wunder" - Cuts, Thrusts, & Slices
           Striking & Countering
           Voiding & Parrying

12:00 - Break for Lunch (fast food nearby or other options available)

1:00 - Intermediate & Advanced Techniques: introduction to Schwertnemen & Gioco Stretto

2:00 - Intro to ARMA Study Approach: exercises, practice routines, & drills

3:00 - Open Free-Sparring Session

5:00 - The Transition to Renaissance Civilian Styles: brief introduction to sword & dagger

5:30 - End Wrap Up

6:30 ~ Optional Group Social Dinner at Tavern

10:00 - Facing Multiple Opponents

10:30 Til End? - Group-Combat Free-Sparring!

*If you have a wooden sword or training stick bring it along (but no shinai or bokken). Blunt replica blades are welcome too. Wear athletic clothing/work out gear. Knee/elbow pads and cup are advised. Fencing masks & sparring helms are welcome. If you wear glasses, be sure to bring a sport band. No chewing gum in class unless you bring enough for everyone!

*Wasters & wooden weapons by Purpleheart Armory will be available for sale.
Some Del Tin swords from Christian Fletcher will also be on display for purchase.

Maps & Directions to Missouri City Recreation Center: Take the Gessner exit off Hwy 8 (Sam Houston) just past Hwy 59. Follow Gessner west about 5 miles (Gessner becomes Texas Parkway, FM 2234). The center gym is on the right behind the new city hall.
