Re: Floppy Fencing Fotos

it could be like some feint attack. swing widely - he expects blow from that side, continue movement behind the head and step forward - opponent's guard has to go on the other side. i tryed to explain. anyway..... it has no sense

Re: the 'f' as an 's' thing in old manuscripts

i have to say that it isn't "f" we are talking about. it looks like f, but has no line (sometimes, when it does, the line is different than that on "f") croatian literature had something similar, because of sounds that german and latin don't have, and because of ortographic ideal...

Re: Who are YOU training to fight?

now it is more important that martial ART is ART, not a way of self defence. (i usualy don't carry a sword around with me) yes, you can use some elements in self defence... but you can use your knowledge of physics and politics also

Re: The arms/armor race in the 15th and 16th centu

well... isn't jousting armour a bit diferent of that on the field?

isn't the point of jousting to stay as long as you can in a saddle, to crush the biggest number of lances, show your precision, strenght, agility, NOT TO KILL AN OPONENT?

Re: Important new article on the Crusades

Scholars have discovered that crusading knights were generally wealthy men with plenty of their own land in Europe. well, i am convinced, because i know that when man has lot of money, he do not want even more money.... weekend warriors i respect prof. madden's "prof.", but as many prof.s...

Re: Fighting against the peasants.

first, i wanted to make it obvious that perzians didn't fight against only 300 greeks second - the majority of the army was going around the passage. these were sent just to "take care" of greek forces in the passage. there was also another part of persian army that in the same time took c...

it is hard to find a gap in the armour of a charging horseman about 150 m from you, while shooting in an arch.

Re: Fighting against the peasants.

OK. here we go... my source is herodotus himself. i shall state the number of paragraphs in his work so you can read it in language that suits you best, or even the original. the number of persians: herodotus, counting, came to number of 2 641 610 men under arms (asian and european combined) [VII,18...
