Sending in a Youth membership form

How do I do it? Do I just print the page, fill it out and then mail it in? Or do I make a new page using Word?

Re: First Day at the Pell: Thoughts and observati

Same thing with me. I'm a student as well and made a pell for the Easter weekend at my family's cottage. I hade a piece of plywood as the base and had a 2*4 for the hitting part of the pell (Surrounded by noodles though without the canvas). I learned quickly that the canvas or some sort of cover wou...

Shield sizes

Having just remade my heater shield I noticed how short it is. Holding it out it covers me quite well but it doesn't do anything for my legs (Shield measurements are 18" * 24" and it begins to taper at 15"). It goes down to my hips. Is that too small for a heater shield? Looking at pa...

Re: Becoming a registered ARMA member

I was just reconsidering my shield measurements. With the shield having a width of 16" my forearm will have to be at a 45 degree angle to provide the most cover for my arm though a small bit of my elbow is not covered. I was thinking increasing my shield to 1 1/2' * 2'. Any comments/suggestions...

Re: Weapon/armour effectivness and categorization

:P Subdual is a form of damage in D&D. It's basically special HP that determines consciousness. If subdual damage becomes greater than current HP, the character becomes unconsciouss. (Subdual adds up, HP goes down)

Re: Becoming a registered ARMA member

All righty. Medieval Swordsmanship came in a few days ago and I've almost finished reading it. At the moment I am refining the measurements of the SCA shield. Going from 23" across the top and 31" straight down (it's a heater) to 16" across the top and 22" straight down. So, havi...

Becoming a registered ARMA member

How exactly do I become a registered ARMA member?

From here:
http://www.thearma.org/Youth/Youth.htm#How%20to%20Join:
to here:
http://www.thearma.org/Youth/AYmembership.htm

What exactly do I do? It says to "fill out and submit." What does that mean/how do I do it?

Re: Getting started

:P It's not that, my friend's have oriental ties so they want to go Katana/Wakizashi whereas I want us all to learn German Longsword. Also, I've been thinking about this and seeing as how I'm off to my SCA meeting in an hour or so: why would the SCA not change their combat system? Since it was creat...

Re: Getting started

As far as I know 'boffer' is a generic term for non-sword shaped padded weapons. Essentially 1/2 interiour diameter schd. 40 PVC and pipe foam (note: pipe foam isn't the ARMA suggested high-impact closed cell foam) and duct-taped. I just said that 'cause boffer is really easy to make for me. (I am u...

Re: Getting started

Just one last question before I proceed to spend (assuming prices are American) ~$170 <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />. My friend commented on how it might be easier to make a weapon out of boffer instead of spending $90. Any reasons why not? (Asides from balance...

Re: Getting started

I'm trying to find Clement's Medieval Swordmanship on Amazon.com but it doesn't find anything. For the SCA: I notice (obviously) how everyone ignores their combat system (even I am beginning to doubt their "historical" accuracy <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="&q...

Re: Getting started

Thanks for the help, I'll be getting on it ASAP. A few questions though. What length of long sword should I have? I'm 6'4"* so I don't know what measurements I'd need. Also, for little-raven it gives options for which wood for a hilt etc, what should I get? *Just a random side note, my hand is ...

Re: Getting started

Thanks for the replies though a few questions: - Where/how would I get that book? - Which website would have good wasters? I know of little-raven and woodenswords - I wanted to look more into sword &amp; buckler: which is faster to learn/easier to get started: sword &amp; buckler or longswor...

Getting started

My friends and I up here in Canada wish to learn but I noticed that there isn't any groups in Canada so how would I go about getting some form of instruction/training? (Were all 15 and as you can guess no experience what-so-ever)

Re: How did you get started?

<img src="/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'm just getting started. Currently I'm in the SCA though I've only been in it for a few months. I found the ARMA because my friends like eastern martial arts and he was convinced that he can beat my shield with his katana and he...
