Re: On propper storage of Arms.

Does anyone have any info on storing weapons safely in a temperate zone? The Bosworth Longsword I have had the Guard come lose without having encountered a single target. I am not sure if the wood of the grip has shrunk slightly. I don't have a good interior wall to store it on. Most places I can l...

I keep a bastard file for removing burrs on my blunts and sharps. I keep a scotchbrite pad for removing rust from both as well. I also have a selection of stones for edge maintenance and clp for rust prevention.

I keep a wood block and a ballpeen hammer to tighten hilts.

Yep. Get out to visit a local group. There is no substitute for training with experienced Swordsmen. You can get very good training alone so long as you get out to regional events to keep progressing. David Kite is the finest example I know of in this regard. His success is very impressive in my exp...

Get out to a regional event at your earliest convenience. Until then, practice your guards, cuts and transitions.

I'm 6'3" and a 48" long sword works fine for me. I think sometimes folks get Great Sword and Longsword mixed up. I have a Great Sword too, and it is not used in the same manner as the Longsword.

Another question for all of you as I consider membership -- I am not pointing fingers, as much as trying to understand the take of those still in ARMA, specifically this: http://paulushectormair.blogspot.com/2009/04/arma-senior-members-in-mass-exodus.html and http://paulushectormair.blogspot.com/se...

I work and am a full-time music student (practice 6+ hours a day)... not a lot of spare time for practicing with swords just at the moment. Gotta wait for the dust to settle. Good work can be done in even 20 minutes a day. 20 minutes a day, every day, is better than 5 hours one day a week. There's ...

Re: A silly question about thr training system

I was reading through the qualifications for prize playing and could not get a handle on what is required to obtain the rank of general free scholar. My question is simply if it has to be longsword first or if I could get that through rapier or cut-and-thrust. I know it is probably an obvious answe...

I've never used that model. I'm speaking of plastic wasters in general.

The biggest plastic waster problem I've had experience with is the flex along the edge and the wierd bounciness they all seem to exhibit. They have paid for themselves in broken wasters by now though. I think the quirks are inherent to the materia lthey are made from. I don't know how you would retr...

When I worked in armour all the time, I'd be in it for 4-6 hours at a stretch in 90+ degree weather. It's not a problem when you're used to it.

Re: Anyone in London?

Heya, I might go to London in the fall for 1 semester of my studies...I was wondering if there is anyone in London to train with? If there is I'll hurry up and join the ARMA, else I'll prolly have to wait till February. I just got hold of the book 'Medieval Swordmanship', by John Clement. Any advic...
