Well, they will be going to France to learn Savate ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savate ) and the preview advert showed what looked like some La Canne. That is at least in Europe, so there might be a Renaissance show after all.

thanks for the advice, guys, I really appreciate it. I will be going to Wal Mart today to get some padding for it, but as I do not own a quality blunt I guess I will be using my wasters with it for the time being. As soon as I can I want to get a Liechtenauer or an I.33 from Albion for practice, but...

On Pelling, and my first experience

Today, after over two years of learning Western Martial Arts I had my first pelling session. To set the situation up, I have a wooden post in a concrete base, and I was using my Albion Talhoffer. I have a firm grounding in German technique, but this was new. Prior to today all of my striking experie...

Vikings against Samurai, trying to settle an argument

Some of my uninformed acquaintances have been having a running argument about whether an army of Samurai would be able to flat out beat an army of vikings or vice versa. I hesitate to get involved, as I do not wish to lose friends, but I have tried to tell them that, apart from cultural and combat s...

I would not. You can, I suppose, but I recommend these http://www.hollowearthswordworks.com/swords2.htm

I will be getting some soon, and I have heard great things about them.

Introduction and a Question

Greetings all, I am Matt Miller, and although I am not yet an ARMA member I hope to be soon. Anyway, the group I practice with wants to try a new method, specifically tactical scenarios. Our current plan is for one man to have his waster or wasters (be they a longsword, dagger, one-handed sword, or ...

I would start with a waster as Jake said, but I would look through http://www.myarmoury.com/reviews.html for a good sword anyway. You may find a decent blunt at an affordable price.

I was going to get Albion's Talhoffer, and I still am, but it will not be arriving until March.

On the upside I got copies of the Codex Wallerstein, Ringeck's Knightly Art of the Longsword, and Royal Armourie's Medieval Art of Swordsmanship, a Facsimile and Translation of I.33.
