Stacy, the first two pages you posted are from Vadi. As an Italian master, none of his guards are Vom Tag. The top right picture on the first page is Posta di Falcon (Guard of the Falcon). The top left picture in the second page is Posta di Vera Finestra (Guard of the True Window), which is similar ...

Short answer . . . Yes. The longer answer, define what you mean by Scot. The Highland Clans, post advent of the kilted (belted) plaid in the late 1500's up through 1745, used the kilt as their primary form of clothing. Men lived, worked and fought in them. After the reintroduction of the kilt int he...

Wear a bandanna, or arming cap. I have heard that getting helmets a size large and then wearing a rugby helmet underneath works nicely too.

I don't particularly like lacrosse gloves. I don't get the movement in my hand and fingers I want. Revival's medium fencing gloves are nice, a couple of my training partners have them (though they have a little more material on the palms than I like. The best gloves I ever used were a friend of mine...

A for the wasters why won't you go to some place where they have wood-carving machines (places whre they produce wooden furniture for example), describe what you want exactly, show them a drawing or the photo, and I'm sure they will make it for you. You can show a photo of a wooden waster of late m...

So most of you have seen these guys' work, which is straight up awesome if I do say so myself. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1823CE28E5A3E116 I have started sparring with some guys who are local viking re-enactors, and a few of them have expressed interest in putting on fencing masks and m...

The best fights I've read in fantasy are from Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar books. I was hooked when I read a passage, and went "Hey, I've done that move, and its worked the way he describes it" (step to the left with a disengage and a stab to the back of the right hand). Most of Leiber's fighti...

I think that most scars are a sign you did something stupid/cool and got away with it. I have a ton from kayaking (granite is not you best friend) and a lot of them have stories. on the other hand I have a ton from work (metal work is killer on the arms) and mostly they get asked about and there is ...

Well there are currently three off us in the Boulder/Denver area (we just got together today) who are in the process of staring a study group. So drop me a line. I think we are planning on getting together next weekend again.

I bought riot gear leg protectors for $30 online. They work great--just enough sting gets through to make the point that I was hit, but nothing lasting. Plus, the knee is fully protected, since that's the part that can actually get damaged. Hey Jason, where did you get your riot gear? I have a bad ...

The lazy vom tag (as I understand it) is the one in von Danzig and also in Mair. http://www.schielhau.org/images/pvd05.jpg http://mdz10.bib-bvb.de/~db/bsb00006570/images/index.html?id=00006570&fip=193.11.234.149&no=13&seite=53 We could argue that the von Danzig depiction suffers from po...
