Thanks for all the responses! I had no idea Guardup was like that, I've just seen their products didn't know a thing about them, so I'm glad you told me. Yeah, I noticed Actionflex wasn't Western fighting oriented, but the stuff you guys suggested seems really good quality. I'll be sure to tell my g...

Soft weapons

Ok, so the padded weapons on here worked pretty well, but maybe it was our poor craftsmanship or heavy abuse, so we ended up damaging them quickly. We're going to need replacements fairly soon, and were thinking about getting something maybe expensive but durable, for example, the Guardup type weapo...

Landau Padding

The sword blueprint on this site suggests 7/8 inch thick padding to put on the outside of the blade. However, all I can find is 1/4 thick. Should I just layer that? Anyone have a place I can order it thick enough to meet the specifics? I'm in Kentucky, someone on this site (can't recall who sorry) s...

Thanks for all the responses! Ok, so: 1) Padded sword fighting is just one of many ways to do it, though its good practice. 2) You suggest we practice with non-padded and do drills, etc., before fighting with padded. 3) Padded sparring isn't as realistic as wasters. 4)Armored is different style of f...

I meant the models labeled "OLD" on the website, saying cut and slash was my mistake, sorry. Ok, so, taking into account that the wasters give a much more realistic feel, we're now wondering if theres a simple way to armor ourselves so that we can practice full speed with wasters. No, we'r...

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the helpful response. I looked at the wasters, and I like them, but full-speed combat is something we're fairly interested right now, and we don't have any kind of body armor, so we're going with padded for now. In that case, if the padded changes it that much,...

Making a safe, light blade simulator

First of all, hello all, glad to be here, amazed I found this organization; its incredible. That there are this many people interested realistic sparring and historical research is a nice thing to find out. Anyway, some friends and I are working on making our own weapons based on the builds suggeste...
