Dear List, even though this manual it does not belong to the reinassance ( which was not alien to the stick fighting at all) I thought someone may be interested that the reprint of Giannino Martinelli's manual is out: Trattato di scherma col bastone da passeggio-Difesa personale, Milano 1908 The ess...

I am a lover of Revete's books and I could not wait to see the movie of one of the best character of this author. Mortensen fit very well to the anti-eroe Alatriste. 1 The battle scene are those portion I prefers: very realistic and cruel, good reconstrucion of equipment. The singular fight with sin...

First I have to say that I am not an expert of historical painting, and I post it in order to show some finds about weaponry and such. Gianluca; It means fighting until one of you is dead, or incapacitated. Dead is more likely, but some people are sensitive to such things. There are many different colloquial expressions in English for such "winner take all" situations. An example would be in the game of marbles where you...

That posta di donna is a good find! Exaclty what I thought when I found it! Note the left foot rising to gain power for the downward fendente. Note even the similarity with posta di donna of Getty's plate. I would like to know where is his left hand :( http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/3226/fraang...

Re: Modern "Masters"?

Here is a new editorial by John Clements  Modern "Masters"? http://www.thearma.org/essays/ModernMasterMyth.htm It is a concise & edifying refutation of claims to "mastery" of Medieval & Renaissance fighting skills by some modern individuals. Enjoy Hello Jeffrey, I...

Take a look at the article Sword Motions and Impacts by George Turner. http://www.thearma.org/spotlight/GTA/motions_and_impacts.htm Randall, thanks I have read it once and I still have to study it better. I was just wondering if there was a way to calculate COP with a formula by the measurements an...

Center of percussion-calculation.

Does anybody knows how to calculate POP? It is done with a particular formula by measurements and weight or does it involve empiric method which involves strike/cut testing?
Thank you very much in advance for your help!
