By the way do any of you know what the best item to use for sparring is? At the moment a group of us are using bamboo rods but they don’t last long and tend to shatter and hurt a bit. If your talking about shinai I can say this: They might hurt a little more then foam variants, but, if anything, th...

Interesting. On what kind(s) of sword(s)?

or have recently changed their stance and claimed they've been doing it that way all along. ...and of that, I wanted examples. I defer to Randall and Jeffrey in particular, and of course John, for specific incidences of this. Yes, and it was specific incidences, that I was asking for. Just for star...

Stewart Sackett wrote:There's also this Albion blade: http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/johnsson/sword-museum-tritonia.htm which has a spherical pommel. It's an exact recreation of a specific historical sword.

He was asking about round grips, not pommels.

Well, the relevance would be that he has translated a fechtbuch Ehm... he said that, already. Hi Alan, give it a rest :D . I already have , which you would see if you read my posts a bit more closely. Hope to see you in Uppsala this spring Alan, they are having an event there. Sounds interesting :)...

Wrong Mars. :!: I for one have transcribed & translated an entire Fechtbuch , available for free to anyone, including you: I fail to see the relevance. If there is, you are free to show it. We need not justify ourselves any more than the cougar needs justify itself to the wilderness. Well sure,...

Randall Pleasant: I see. Thanks. I've been a rather wrong about the krumphau buisness (which is good), I see. Sorry about that, and thank you for the good response. Often when ARMA reveals its discoveries, those get met with indifference, derision, and/or claims of "oh, we knew that all along&q...

On another forum, probably the one you are talking about, I did explain why it is not martially sound. The WW interpretation of Krumhau is martial unsound because it does not break Och ! Breaking Och means successfully attacking someone in the Och guard without being hit yourself. This is very easy...

I think that people need to be more diplomatic when it comes to open debate about these issues, there's no need to get so agitated and personal. No offence to anyone in these forums, but I do think that ARMA needs to be a little more diplomatic when dealing with other groups. I love ARMA's methods ...

I would like to add, that none of the things I asked to be explained, has been explained. It has only gone a short while, but I only say this so no one forgets. John didn't come on here to spout how good or bad X technique is, he was responding to a query about something that he feels he doesn't car...

I'd like to add, that I indeed like the info I've found on the ARMA page, and this forum. They are good sources for info on HEMA, for which I am thankful. particularly since over the years we (and myself in particular) have had much of what we do intentionally misrepresented, mischaracterized, and m...

Neither do I.
I'd also be curious as to what a WW krumphau is (I'm somewhat of a beginner, so I don't know the krumphau ...unless I know it, but don't know the name)

There is in the making here in Sweden a movie about a Swedish crusader, the makers approached some old ARMA folks here and got a full day instruction. As I understood it they liked it but thought much of it was too subtle to convey to a movie audience and thus decided to play safe with ordinary cor...
