This is probably someone else found the video and is using the term 'master' on his behalf. I think he'd probably be upset to hear that...

How were large swords carried?

Hi there, I was wondering what the sheathes of bigger sword types looked like, and how they were carried and prevented from rusting and such while in the field. How were those carried? How were they stowed? Thanks!

Arguing with people on the internet about longswords...

So I am (gasp!) arguing on the internet with people about the history and how useful longswords were, and rather than doing what is likely the SMART thing and, you know, not arguing with random anonymous people on the internet, I feel compelled to correct them, for some reason. Alas, I don't know en...

Where is the article/podcast on 'what is a sword?'

Hi there, I vaguely remember either an article, essay, podcast, or video on this site that talked seriously about the question of where and how to define what a sword is and isn't, and when something can or can't be called a sword. Or it might have been on some other website, I can't remember. I vag...

Differences in 1h mace/axe/club vs. 1h sword?

I have a friend that is interested in the particulars of the differences between fighting with a one handed club, axe, or mace versus a one-handed double-edged straight arming sword. He is doing this for a fictional story. As best as he can figure, the main differences are things like that axes migh...

Well, the Clang Kickstarter was funded, so hopefully sometime next year, we will actually see a swordfighting video game that blows everything that came before it out of the water!

Wow. I just found a game on kickstarter that is most definitely doing this... I posted a new thread about it, but I will post the link I posted there for reference sake.

Clang, Neal Stephenson's Kickstarter Swordfighting Simulator

I was just browsing Slashdot, and it linked me to a very, very fascinating Kickstarter, and some associated videos and such... This looks like, if it works, it could be a really major jumpstart for the hobby! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/260688528/clang What do you all think? Is this for real...

Okay... is there a term or phrase or concept that has to do with the broad-based ability and competency of a particular person to make snap decisions in a fight and do several martially sound things in a short period of time?

Need help with closest RMA term for a concept...

Hi there, I'm making a little piece of writing for a (pen and paper) roleplaying game, and I noticed some things about RMA fighting... Mostly, that the things with the coolest names, a good chunk of the named moves and such, are 'interrupt' based. That is, they conceptually happen right as, right be...

Well hey. That's where the money is these days. And remember, even old fighting games back in the 90s and such aped moves from Bruce Lee, so you don't need much resolution or technology -- or even a lot of frames -- to make recognizable styles...

Re: Kentucky!

Also, I am a fellow Kentuckian so send me a PM. We might be close enough to each other to meet up and do some training... Well, Arma KY is wayyyyy down in Murray, really far from me. There were a few people in Northern Kentucky, but they kinda dropped off the map; I was hoping for someone who could...

I looked for some videos about videogame motion capture... I found one here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxJrhnynlN8 From looking at other videos on motion capture on the web, it looks like that unless you have a really good rig, you have to repeat the same movement over and over again from lots ...

So would anyone like to draft a letter to send to some video game companies? Some sort of nice and formal business letter, with some images as well? Something that can be mailed via dead tree, to show we mean business?
