I've been to Madrid and, Toledo, and benidorm. I arrived in Spain with no weapons and while I was there it was easy enough for me to buy a rather large navaja and a gladius, cheaply. I simply left the weapons with relatives when I left. At home, here is my non-firearms kit: http://farm4.static.flick...

if it is a front bearhug with both your arms pinned you are already in a good position for double underhooks. Move your hips away from your opponent while snaking your hands underneath his armpit, withyour thumbs pointing up rather than having the hands flat and parallel to the floor. Getting your h...

Have no fear, longsword has the same qualities: Intercepting, economy of motion, aggressiveness, even sticky hands but in this case the press drill and most of all reality through sparring. From the way I've seen ARMA guys train and examine the longsword you will be right at home.

Currently I use a gambeson with a fencing mask, hockey throat protection, cutter lineman's gloves and escrima forearm protectors for use against a steel blunt with my regular partner but i used it as well with a wooden waster whenever I get the chance to play and learn with the Orange county guys. On a side note I love how the arab traveller Ibn Fadlan considered the Norsemen unsanitary in their habits while the Irish monks reports them as fastidious and overly clean.

Pull out your knife and cut through his femoral artery. He will go out before you do, especially if you can tuck or anything else that keeps him from sinking it right off the bat. If you can't reach his groin, cut through the elbow joint. A drunken young man did just that to a NY bouncer 2 years ag...

MMA guys also train in Wrestling, Judo, Jujutsu, Capoeira, blah, blah, etc, etc... What they do NOT train is many of the brutally effective real combat techniques that exist in these systems (and in Krav Maga, SASG, Wa Lu, name your kung fu, again I say etc...) because they are illegal. If we had a...

Nope kali is noty very much like Ringen IMHO i have trained both and one is a wrestling/grappling art and Kali is a primarily weapon oriented art and the grappling aspects of it are thin IMHO. Striking is great tho. as for eye gouging and biting, yeah they are great, but they are vicious and typica...

Crudelli might have hit upon the answer. Now if the materials were brittle, that is the metal had an even hardness through the blade rather than the flexibility of european models would edge vs edge keep the blade from snapping?
