Topic: Knives sticking?

I've had blades get stuck in wood but that is it so far. I've test cut on a dead pig and have had no problem pulling my knife out of it, except for the skull. I think that says more about the anterior of a pig skull than about a knife though...

I own multiple Cold Steel products and have been satisfied with all of them, except for the wood! I swear maybe I get too berserk when I practice but I'll be darned if I haven't destroyed every spear stave I've bought from them. But I do own their discontinued Pole-Axe and Halberd, and I have nothin...

Individuals in Los Angeles Area?

Hey all, I've been searching through this forum's posts and there are plenty of us throughout the So.Cal region, and yet there is not so many study groups in California. I regularly meet up at the Orange County Study Group, but being an Angelino I regularly do around 300 miles of commuting a week as...

Ah ok, I am in agreement with you then. I thought he meant a flail in each hand! I'd like to see someone experiment a bit with a multi-headed flail, as I haven't made one yet personally and so I don't know how the heads would interact with each other. I imagine they would travel in the same path unl...

Just so we are sure here, are we talking about a single flail with multiple heads or using two flails at once?

Re: A curious question about flails

I have seen many pictures and some movies (yes I know it's always "in some movie") that people are wielding two flails (the ball and chain kind). And my question is: Is this even possible in an effective way? I see it as being possible but probably ineffective. Using a flail at full speed...

I'm not sure I entirely disagree, but what is your reasoning for a rigid system of rules? I've found that timed bouts are good in some martial arts competitions, but overall they encourage people to have poor cardio and endurance. When I was in the Marine Corps we would fight until we couldn't fight...

First off I want to say that it is really interesting and cool of you to go through the effort of putting this rule\point system together. Shows determination! So my respect to you for that. But second, I think I can simplify your system in this way: I. Remove point system and replace it with a Inca...

Lafayette brings up a good point about trowels. I've seen other Archaeological aids accidentally cut their hands and the hands of others on occasion with trowels. Some of the fieldworkers in Belize got their trowels disturbingly sharp given enough time to do so. Anyway, I think the most interesting ...

Hello Alexander, I live in Los Angeles county but I'm not too far from Camarillo. I usually go down to the OC Study Group for sparring and you're more than welcome to carpool with me if you want. Either way I'm up for some sparring. You may want to invest in steel instead of nylon though.

Hello Robert! I live in the LA area and sent you an email. I've only been to the OC meet up once and it was very much worth it. I'd recommend checking out one of their meetings at least once.
