Michael, I don't know about the DVD or the Fick book, but the Lindholm book is a good one - although like many things , parts of it are outdated. That is to say current understanding of the techniques has evolved . Where are you located? If at all possible, I would suggest trying to make it to a nea...

We have a member in Omaha. I met him at the MTP this last weekend , I'm bad with names but I'm sure it was Scott (forgot his last name). Heck of a nice guy and seemed pretty on top of everything . Hopefully we can get you in contact with him.

I would think it would be entirely dependant on a couple of things , one intent - do they actually want to harm each other ? Two how brutal is daily life , someone in an upscale suburban neighborhood who has to worry about a criminal record and losing his house is alot less likely to try and kill so...

Great Matt, looking forward to meeting you !!! I'll send you an e-mail so if you don't get it let me know. Been a little slow around here for some time but we are starting to get some interest and have some very dedicated members who spend half a day driving back and forth to meet when they can.

Brett, Hi, we have three ARMA members currently in Oklahoma that I am aware of, one in Enid , one in Tahlequah , and myself in Mannford - between Stillwater and Tulsa. We meet here on Saturdays when we can all get together - though I would be more than happy to meet with you even if the others can't...

I'm a bit older than you Chris and have lost much limberness too. I have come to realize it takes me a while to warm up or else something is gonna get pulled - and has. So I thank you for bringing up this topic. I believe all the old stretching exercises we did back when are still good but I would s...

Most people that I have seen use the Albion Liechtenauer, many use the Meyer. I have both , each handle slightly differently so if you can , I'd suggest trying one out first. I haven't handled one, but have heard the CAS Hanwei practical hand and a half is pretty good and you can get one for $100.00...

I'm having Parker do some work like this for me now, you would really have to contact him directly as it greatly depends on exactly what you want - and Parker is good about helping with options if the budget is tight.

I'm no expert, but in my opinion - hang it on the wall. It sounds heavy and is likely poorly balanced . A poor sword will teach you poor habits. If you can afford a good practice sword such as an Albion or even some Hanwai's , get one , otherwise it's better to practice with a stick than an unbalanc...

Historical Reading

Just thought I'd make an observation on reading material. I know we all like to read accurate detailed books, but stop for a moment and think how often we miss the big picture. Gotta face it myself, I don't often have a good general understanding of Medieval and Renaissance life and times , the solu...
