Re: Throwing the spear

Anyways, in reply to your statements, manuels might have tought on good technique when throwing a spear because I'm sure there is a right way to do it. I think this is one of those things that simply needs to be practiced. It's along the lines of the fact that none of the masters, to my knowledge, ...

I've never studied sword&dagger, but I have looked at sword&buckler, but I had a question. I was sparring with S&D and since I didn't know any correct stances I used S&B stances. Mainly Wrath and the one where you hold the sword under your buckler arm. I noticed that I had a lot of ...

Re: Throwing the spear

I am very new to the study of western martial arts and I have no manuels available to me on using the spear. Did historical manuels ever teach on throwing your spear at an opponent? Was it uncommon for soldiers to have thrown their spears and used a sword or a dagger instead? I think one of the rea...

Though it's a bit dated, you could always pick up a copy of JC's Medieval Swordsmanship. It has some stuff about shield usage. http://www.paladinpress.com/detail.aspx?ID=532

Stacy,

I am sure that some of the mail makers listed would be willing to do custom sizing.

Randall,

Is the mail armour from Crescent Moon butted or rivetted? I can't tell from the photo, although the mail in the jewelry section appears to be butted.

Thanks,

Craig

Might I also add that Eric McHugh of Albion Armorers makes very nice rondels, and since he's gone on research trips with Peter Johnsson, he's had chances to handle and take measurements of antique originals: http://www.albion-swords.com/inhouse/eric-rondel-1.htm

Re: Armory

Hey what do you guys think of either Museum Replicas or these guys http://www.swordsofhonor.com/index.html Windless Steelcrafts? I've been thinking about getting a good sword, but I'm not really sure of the qualities of makers out there.. OR the reputations. If you could give me a heads up I'd appr...

Re: Someone left this in a box with my name on it...

I found this under the tree this year! It's quite a thing to behold in person; http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/johnsson/sword-museum-brescia.htm http://www.albion-swords.com/images/swords/johnsson/brescia01.jpg I think it's going to be a happy New-Year of RMA training for me! :D Congrats Shane!...
