I had the pleasure at WMAW 2005 to see Kristi Charron give a demonstration of medieval equestrian skills. She has been studying this particular area for 9 years, and riding and training horses for much longer. What I found particularly interesting was her discussion of the different types of saddles...

Just realized I didn't answer the rest of your question: What resources do I find useful? - Same ones the guys do! Seriously, just train hard, stay fit, don't be afraid to ask questions or for help. Try to not be afraid of making mistakes in public. I think guys are much more willing to just jump in...

oh, and yes, a groin protector is good too! I poopoo'ed the idea 'til I got kneed in the crotch by an over-enthusiastic grappler. Yowch.

I use the Maxi-Guard and love it. This is a "hard" plastic chest protector that covers the sternum, breasts and partial sides. It slips into a sports bra-like "cover" so you can remove the plastic and cool down after sparring without the need to completely disrobe. I've been usin...
