Re: Best Weapon to Start With?

I definitely agree with Shane, with one caveat. Make sure you intersperse your reading of "Medieval Swordsmanship" with liberal reading of the ARMA website. It's a great, and even ground-breaking book, but some of the interpretations in there have changed over time, particularly with regar...

Re: Best Weapon to Start With?

I'll throw in a suggestion for a Raven Studios waster from www.littl-raven.com . They run about $74 plus shipping are are quite nice. There's another thread about that has some pic of the ones they sent John to evaluate.

Re: Training with heavy materials for strength?

Hi Tim, You may not remember me, but we met briefly the last time you were here in VA Beach. I was the tall long hair other than Joel <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />. At any rate, I was curious about your training regimen. I've recently become interested in body...

Re: New Article on the Mastercuts

Cool article, and I quite like the pics. I haven't had a chance to try these interpretations out with sword in hand, but the pics for the krumphaw seem confusing...would it be possible to number them, as the order I *think* they belong in doesn't seem to follow. And the PDF slideshow also looks to b...

Re: Raven's Wasters

One of the other guys in the group has a New Sterling Perfect waster, and I quite like that one as well. However, that particular waster is *considerably* lighter than Joel and Shanes Raven models, and about the same weight as Cathy's. Moreover, it seems to be either a) balanced hilt heavy or b) jus...

Re: Raven's Wasters

I've used all of the VAB groups wasters to one degree or another, and they all have round ball type pommels, which Raven still offers, though you need to request it special for now to get it, though it will soon be an option on the website. I'm currently working with Carina at Raven on mine, and I'm...

Re: tour de ARMA

You should be able to hit both groups without traveling TOO far out of your way. You can take the 75 straight up to Knoxville, then take the 40E across to the 81N to the 64E. Detour around Richmond on the 295 and continue on into VA Beach on the 64. From VA Beach it's a fairly simple (though I've on...

Re: Where's the beef?

You should also be able to get fairly large pieces of meat (both with and without bone) from your local warehouse store, such as Sam's Club or Costco.

Re: Where To Get Wasters

Quick query. (Hiya Shane! Long time no post!)

I've read and heard about double weighted wasters used to build strength and endurance. Does anyone actually make these? I've looked on the WW, NSA and HE sites but didn't see anything along these lines.

Anyone made one on their own?
