Dakota, I've just realised that you are 14, so an Albion Meyer is probably a little unwieldy for you. If the Hanwei Tinker Pierce's have improved noticably over the past year or so (as Andrew Ulrich has suggested), then they may very well be the one to get. Tim why wouldn't i be able to wield the A...

Good choice, let me know how it handles. In the meantime though, practice the guards when you get it to start, then I would move to the manuals page. Also get to know the vocabulary on the terminology page as many of the terms used in the manuals are explained there. Okay i will start looking over ...

Like I said, Dakota, I can't speak for sure on Lindholm and Tobler. I just remember in a discussion with another ARMA member on our private e-mail list that, according to him, the translations in Lindholm were "out of date", meaning that he used older, more inaccurate translations of Ring...

I strongly recommend the Codex Wallerstein (especially if you have an interest in Ringen as well as swordplay) and the Medieval Combat books. These are modern english translations of the original manuscripts with black and white photocopy renditions of the original illustrations. It's always best t...

Steel is best. You need to know the feel of it when you're sparring and stuff- there's a lot of subtle differences that will affect your training when you start to get more experience. And I apologize, but I just remembered that Hanwei came out with a new Practical Bastard Sword model that also see...

Personally, if I had 100 bucks to blow right now, I'd really be tempted to buy the sword listed above. Really the only other blunts out there that have not had abysmal reviews by my fellow ARMA members (and actually instead have stellar reviews) are around $500 at Albion Swords. If you want somethi...
