Perhaps the only way to make it more realistic is to have no choreography! I guess just make sure that the "right" side wins? And please make sure that there are multiple opponents, and not this crowd "attacking one at a time" thing...geesh...

You're right IF you don't do the footwork mentioned on this plate. If your opponent can turn their hips, then yes they can counter. But if you step behind their leg (see picture) it makes it quite difficult! I love Goliath, since it shows the great importance of footwork!

"Indes" literally means however, meanwhile, but. It may imply "in response to." I think, although I'm just an ARMA newbie, you're right on when you say that it is not immediate, but implies a moment of decisive action.
