Favorite weapon and why?

I was talking with a few friends about what their favorite type of medieval weapon was and why. Not so much because of its general use or effectiveness, but because thats what works best for them. Unfortunately since I only have a longsword to practice with I have to say thats my favorite weapon as ...

I know there is a study group about an hour away, and I've talked to the person that runs it already. Only problem is they meet early saturday mornings and I work that day so I wouldn't be able to go that often. Hi Nathan, Keep in mind things are not necessarily that formal. Saturday morning happen...

Thanks a lot James. I'll look up Liberi and Codex Wallerstein someplace (apparently wiktenauer is having site problems) and try to get started there. I know there is a study group about an hour away, and I've talked to the person that runs it already. Only problem is they meet early saturday morning...

Ready to start

Hey guys, I just got my first waster (geekin' out a bit =3) and I've been looking at the different manuscripts on wiktenauer.com and am a bit unsure which one I should start with first. I've yet to hear anything back about my application (or the inquiry I emailed about it) so I can't use the ARMA si...

Polish Winged Hussars?

I'm not sure if many people have even heared of this type of armor, but have any of you seen any referance to how fighting in it would actually work out? I would imagine your balance would be really thrown off but I haven't seen to much more besides that. Or if anyone has seen a video they could sha...

Re: Greatsword gear/training questions

Hey guys, I just had a couple quick questions about greatswords. First, I was looking at getting a greatsword size waster soon from either Raven studios or NSA. The thing I noticed was that the blade length for one from Raven only goes to 38" which is the same as a longsword, and NSA goes up t...

Thanks Ian, this is just about perfect for what I need. I have a question though if you or anyone else would have an explanation. I'm looking at the picture for the breastplate and I see that the bottom where the stomach would be it kind of bows outward (like a beer belly =D ). Does anyone know why ...

Armor sites?

Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you knew a good website to research historic plate armor. The style doesn't make to much of a difference. I mainly just need to be able to see individual pieces and how they connect to each other to make a full suit. Also the range of motion would great to have. T...

Thanks. I wanted to put my name out there in case there were other people lurking in my area. There isn't even a fencing club at my local university, so it's pretty hard to network out here in the boonies. Hey John. I live in eagan so if you need a training partner i'm down to try and work somethin...

When fighting a higher end sword, even using proper technique you sword will have more damage. Not enough to make it useless but more. I.e. the bastard will have little nicks at the end of an engagement while the Albion will have none. Do you have any idea how long you could use a blade like that (...

This is the best link I have for sites with pictures and translations. http://www.wiktenauer.com Nathan Having just picture and translations really is not enough in itself. All of the bad and silly interpretations we see in the world give testimony to this. This is why it is importation to train wi...
