Re: Rapiers

Re: Rapiers

they key would be not to make a static parry, but try to close in against the cut and engage his longsword on the strong with the strong of your rapier while thrusting, much like ringeck's versetzen thrusts. remember, the strong of a blade travels more slowly and has less force, so that's where you'...

Re: On Blade Gripping

john clements once did a demonstration with my arming sword, showing how you can grab a sharp blade without being cut. he grabbed the blade near the middle, but a little closer to the point. then he told me to grab the hilt and pull on the blade as hard as i could. i didn't jerk the blade violently,...

Re: Atlanta Blade Show '05 visit

i enjoyed the blade show as well. seeing albion was well worth the $10 admission. the swords were so well balanced that they seemed well-neigh weightless. it was also interesting to see their edge geometry. They had no secondary bevel, which seems to be present on most swords and knives i've ever se...

Re: New to WMA/ Georgia ARMA Members?

Hi Jonathan,

i believe we talked on the yahoo group already. our schedule is pretty topsy-turvy regarding practice times. We've got about 4 others waiting in the wings for a time when their schedules will allow.

As stated before, feel free to get a hold of me and we can get together

Re: Advice to potential authors

if you're technical at all, you may try using something like PGP to digitally sign your manuscript. or get a .pdf writer, and submit your manuscript via encrypted .pdf, which should keep them from being able to change it. the mathmatics of secret key digital signatures would definately prove it was ...

Re: making shields

what i would do is get a large, shallow pan, and allow the shields to soak in hot or boiling water for a while, until they are completely saturated. then put them up on blocks, with weight in the center as matt described. basically try some way of getting the wood wet and flexible. just something yo...
