Shipped product appears to be only superficially different than what they had you test. Makers mark and some detail on the cross, otherwise could be twins (from the photos).

Got one in hand

Pre-order pool was pretty deep. Interesting handling and better finish than I expected for something that will probably get the snot beat out of it by most buyers. A bit more flex toward the tip than I expected, but that probably makes things safer. Don't really have anything to compare it against a...

Any update on exactly when this will be happening over the summer, and on location?

Re: Albion sword edge damage

David,

I guess I didn't do a good job of speaking clearly. I agree that a sword of that type should be up to the task. It just looks like the one in question may not be up to the task.

Or more to the point, I agree with you.

Albion sword edge damage

I have not experienced problems with an Albion product yet. I also anticipate purchasing more from them in the future. They handle very well and are wonderful aesthetically. However, this is not the first edge issue I've seen. Tools suffering damage I understand, but I wonder if its the right tool f...

Re: Jeff

I completely agree about taking that program with a grain of salt. :-) However I did find their tour of the positions interesting. Wish I could remember what they called the terrain feature (I'll settle for birm). I found it interesting because the birm was not immediately apparent, but substaintial...

Question

Anybody here actually walk any of these battlefields? I Maybe the longbow can or can't penetrate under "normal" circumstances but perhaps slight variations in local conditions tilt the equation? I watched a show on History Channel about a week ago where they did in fact walk the field at A...

Re: care and feeding a sword?

Really depends on the type of scabbard and the humidity where you store it. Leather is not good on the steel long term. A good wood scabbard with a decent lining should not cause much problem.

Re: Frequency of hand hits

Before I blew a hernia which has taken me out of action, I started finding that voiding and targeting my opponents hands when they telegraphed attacks was often very effective. At least in our study group at the time. Not sure how technically valid the approach was/is, but I liked it.

Re: Test Cutting

Jeff, We'll have your test cutting itch scratched a bit before too long. Although the pending session will work with lighter targets, things about feel still hold true. When the target does not resist the cut, cuts that feel wrong have a tendancy to bend or move the target instead of cut it. Decent ...
