Kevin, Fair enough! I appreciate the heads up, as I wasn't aware of much of that. I assumed that the 'dress-up' and costumes were simply part of an attempt to fight in a more authentic setting, though personally I don't see much value in it. I'm not interested in re-enactments - mostly I just long t...

Lake Ontario Fechtschule - Contact Info

Greetings, I am posting in hopes that someone will have information as to whether the following "school" in Syracuse is still active, and if they are, what their contact information might be. I have already attempted emailing the address which is listed on their website, but am hoping some...

NERF N-Force Marauder (longsword)

This is fairly random, but I just happened upon a link to a new line of longsword NERF is putting out. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/03/not-at-all-safe-the-nerf-marauder-longsword.ars Looks like they've got some sturdiness to them, just wondering if anyone else has seem them or played arou...

People like Forte are a pretty good resource for technical study - they are technically often quite correct. It's bringing it to bear in practice where they fall a bit short, so always make sure to take what they say with a grain of salt for sparring. This is what I had noticed about a lot of their...

Whee! So the Brian Hunt wasters just arrived this last week, and boy do they feel different in the bind than wood covered in cardboard and duct tape... Here are some pictures of how I decided to wrap the hilt, if anyone is interested: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_mg7rOvPI7_I/SvW3Wu_w_PI/AAAAAAAADXI/s9Bzr_D...

Well, saturday was cut short due to a certain not-me-someone being a bit hung over (strikes to the head don't really help). We did successfully affix some strips of cardboard to the dowel wasters we're using which created a much more visible and (I think) helpful flat/edge. Yay productive something!...

some feedback, if you'd be so kind :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHwNPfDBp2s Perhaps due to the somewhat thrust centric nature of previous styles we have both studied (my brother-in-law and I) - we're having trouble making the transition to full-bodied cuts. I'm not a member of arma yet (the moment I'm not behind on rent, basically....
