Well, I wrote them an e-mail last week and they never responded to me. I guess they're too busy defending the Pope :p

No joke. This is entirely serious. We've already met with the TV crew and they have already interviewed one professor of Japanese history. Is there a possibility that if there is a lack of trained and Kenjutsu practitioners in the US, that you could go to Japan to find one? Something tells me that ...

Hmm, maybe you misunderstood me. I know about formations and differences of the things like you mention and how it can greatly affect a battle. However what I want to know is that when people weren't in a close formation, when it was literally two lines just clashing into each other and such focuse...

Re: Fitness in the Fight

As a new practioner of WMA I am trying to get a sense of exactly what level of fitness is typical for an ARMA member. I was shocked by the SCA, their level fitness was quite low their videos show that a large percentage of their fighters are quite overweight. As there is a corellation between fitne...

Re: 2 Challenger's fights

Hi Lance,

I've always been a big fan of your videos. You pretty well wiped the floor with those poor guys. Someday, when I get over to HK (someday) I hope you'll have me for some sparring

Re: Sikh Martial Arts? Saber (tulwar) and buckler

Is it just me, or do they seem to be aiming for the bucklers when they're doing their demonstration? They also didn't seem to be using broken timing a lot of the time, and their fighting looks different from what we do because of it. Otherwise, they seem to be very skilled at what they do. Very fast.

Maybe they only had one sword but sharpened it before battle.

Also, why not take swords from fallen enemies after battle to use?

Re: Interesting training refrence

It sounds like it's a really good idea. The clay wouldn't mind being cut. You could reform it multiple times and it would be cheap. Wouldn't it dull your sword easily though? And how close is it really to flesh? Oh yeah, and be sure to check for pebbles <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif&qu...

Re: Terry Brown's bare-fist techniques

Safer for who? In my Krav Maga class we were taught how to potentially kill with them. We were also taught to strike to the temple and brain stem area, which I can't imagine is healthy.

Do you mean safer for me?

Re: Chances of survival of a duel or battle

Likely that both parties would die? I'm not sure. I think it would be more likely for one to be wounded somehow and the other to die. Sometimes the winner would get skewered, later get an infection and then died, but at least they'd have a chance, and that's *if* the winner got skewered. Is duelling...

"I would like to see some of that used in sparring though"

I've done it before and found it quite natural. Me and my traingin partner used to throw each other on the ground all the time in sparring.
