I know swords wouldn't even have to be sharp in the lower regions since, well, cutting with that part wouldn't be too effective anyways. I was reading Talhoffer Longsword: Armoured and Unarmoured and was very intrested by the use of half-swording and morte-striking against plate-armored opponents.
