Fantastic and educational

Postby Matt Hagan » Tue Jan 25, 2005 12:47 pm

So my wife and I are sitting and watching Lord of the Rings when she mentions it would be so cool to handle a sword like that. My reply was, while it was cool, it was only Hollywood. We then got into a discussion about it. I reffered her to John Clements book on Medieval Swordsmanship (only because I have that one). I then proceded to tell her of HACA and went to the internet to show her. Well that is how I got here and what a surprise to see how it has grown. It has been a pleasure to find so much information.I must admit, I am not entirely new to this, I did join when it was called HACA and was in the process of trying to learn medieval style of fighting with longsword. Unfortunately life threw a few unexpected problems my way. Well, it has been a couple of years and I am still digging my way out of that hole but I do enjoy reading and researching which this site is abundant in. Thankfully, my new wife also shares an interest and has shown an interest in learning. It is wonderful to have folks such as yourselves out there that work so hard to re-educate. I would hope to rejoin when I can spare some self-discipline into such an activity.

Welcome back, then. We hope to see more of you.
