Armour in Minneapolis...

Postby Erik D. Schmid » Fri Feb 17, 2006 8:16 am

I thought I would post this here in case anyone is interested.

Brave Hearts and Martial Arts
Sunday, February 19, 2006 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
museum-wide

Free and open to the public.

Meet a true knight in shining armor. Try on armor and feel the weight of the metal plates that protected a knight in battle. Study the various parts that make up a knight’s armor and see the tools used to craft plates of steel into wearable art. Watch period fencing demonstrations and learn about the complexity of a knight’s martial training. This Family Day features arms and armor on special loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Don’t forget your cameras! Presentations and fencing demonstrations by Arms and Armor and the Oakeshott Institute at 1 and 3 p.m.

No doubt Chris and Craig will be doing the demos with a few of the other guys helping to answer questions and handle some of the objects.

I will be there around noon and will have a piece of mail with me in case I run into anyone that might have a few questions. <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hey Erik,

sure wish I could afford to fly out to that. Sounds like a good time. I would enjoy seeing your mail and discussing how to make a watershed effect, tools, etc.

It may just be Chris in his old suit, but I do know that there will be a rather tall individual with a landschnect harness on. He is one of the guys who helps out at the MN booth every year.
