I've had a experiences with this group (and others) since 1985, and we were actually just talking here about the Atlanta branch last week. The fighting is about fantasy of course, and so tends to be incredibly juvenile, certanily. But oddly the participants seem to often take it all as if it were extremely "martial" and historically serious. Bizarre. We had tried a few times at recruiting some of the more mature people in Houston, but they thought practicing swordplay with wood or steel was "crazy" (...No fireballs or lightening spells, I suppose). Plus they use "Nerf" swords but still complain if you are too "rough" (or rather, too martial--i.e, effective). The rule purposely reduce everyone and everything down to childsplay. So, oh well. This stuff has it's place for some people. I did quite a lot of LARPing myself back in the late '80s & early '90s.
Anyway, this is all off topic here.
