Not sure about my foam.

Postby Will Adamson » Fri May 05, 2006 9:53 am

A few months ago I got a big roll of some rubbery closed cell foam from a scrap store nearby. I've made an attempt at making a padded longsword from the directions on the ARMA site. The resulting sword feels close enough to my waster (no real longsword yet) but I'm not sure if I'm using the proper type of foam. Could someone give me a description of the properties the foam used for the sides of the padded sword should have? The padding should be good for sheilds at least.

My wife would usually be up for sparring, but anything with contact is out since she's pregnant. I tried to get her to hit me with the sword, but she wouldn't hit full force. The whole scene reeked of an Army buddy of mine telling me about how his friend wanted him to shoot him with a 9mm to test a kevlar vest!

Also, it's great to now be a part of ARMA. Now I have to figure out when I can get to a NTP 1.0 course. I look forward to meeting many of you soon.
"Do you know how to use that thing?"
"Yes, pointy end goes in the man."
