Brisbane Australia Study group?

Postby mattbrowne » Tue Sep 12, 2006 11:33 pm

Hi all, maybe the wrong part of the forum. If so I apologise and request it be moved. I have often used the resources of this website and lurked for a good while.

I have been assosiated with the SCA for more years then I care to remember but just recently I have decieded to get "serious" about my training and research of rapier and backsword (not that there aren't serious teachers in this organisation but there are some serious restrictions in learning when dealing with "sport bouting"). Joing the ARMA I believe would be a good inroad to better understanding. So my question is, is there a study group near by? Or a few members that have not yet started one? Not that having others nearby will be the clincher in joining but certainly it would make things a hell of a lot easier.

Hi Matt,

I looked into Historical European swordplay groups in Brisbane a few years ago. Only one I could find that did rapier and backsword was the Australian College of Arms.

Other groups I know of are

Prima Spada - http://primaspada.com.au

Collegium in Armis - http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/coll ... /title.htm

I didn't find any ARMA people.

Regards,

Matt
