I am hoping somebody can assist me in finding out the Origin of fifty five Illustrations of arms and armor.
I bought them sometime ago, fifty five loose pages which have not been removed from a book, all hand printed, you can see the press marks around the out side of a few of them.
They measuring 8 " X 6 " they show hand drawn in black ink, armor for men and horse, hand weapons and a few old BP Muskets/ wheelocks.
Printed on thick old paper (very grainy)
On the bottom left hand side of most of the Illustrations hand written it states " Pub March 1785 for S Hooper.
On the right hand side it has "J Hamilton Sc" who I assume drew them in the first place?
The first page (I think? its not numbered as the others) shows five Corinthian helmets, page four shows six Helms three being Cromwellian, page nine shows sixteen Jousting helms.
I can email scans of some of these pages. as this is a very long shot, a few Illustrations might jolt the memory as to their origin.
Any information would be gratefully received.
