Ochs DVD on Wrestling

Ochs DVD on Wrestling

I was looking around at http://www.chivalrybookshelf.com and found the DVD called Leibringen: "An Introduction to Medieval Wrestling." Anyone have this or know if it's any good? Are the Ochs people reliable (I seem to have heard that they are, but I can't rightly say for sure). The stuff looks interesting, and definitely doesn't look like equivalent Asian systems reconstituted and named Western European. Anybody have any thoughts? I'me also interested in their longsword video.

I haven't seen the video. However Ochs are the biggest HEMA group in Gemany, and members of HEMAC. I've trained with them, they are very reliable.

I have not seen that video, but I have trained with a couple of the Ochs guys and I'm impressed with them. They are good Swordsmen and communicators.

Thanks, guys. I think I'll pick the two of them up when I get a little COH (Cash On Hand).

BTW, sorry if this seemed off-topic. I realized afterwards that it might have fit better under the unarmed discussion forum, but since it included both, it was kind of a toss-up. *shrugs*.

Are you aware that, while both DVDs were published by "Agilitas.tv", the product "The Longsword of Johannes Liechtenauer, Part I" is from Ochs, while "Leibringen: Introduction to Medieval Wrestling" is in no way affiliated with that group?

I have never been a fan on learning wrestling from a dvd.

I prefer hands on experiance. :D

No, I wasn't. Hopefully it doesn't suck, because I just ordered it online.

And as for learning wrestling from a DVD, I see it more as a place to get techniques from to try out together. But you're right about that....hands-on is much better.

If you are interested in DVDs dealing with Kampfringen, you might want to check out this thread on SFI. The guys at the Ringschule Wroclaw in Poland have put out a very well recieved DVD and have now published a trailer for the sequel, which is scheduled to come out at Dijon 2007.

Duh, I just saw a thread regarding this in the unarmed combat section of this forum: "Otts wrestling -- a video". You might as well check there, since one of the authors is posting here.
