Association membership in Moscow?

Postby Andrey Lebedev » Tue Feb 19, 2008 1:50 am

Hello.
Can I join ARMA as Associate Member while I'm in Moscow, Russia? I want to get an answer on this on forum fisrt, instead of sending you registartion form, because I'm really far from North America so I'm not sure that I have any chance to be an ARMA member.
I've started to study german longsword about two years ago, and also I have a regular practice and sparrings.
In past I have studied kendo, and now have training in chinese fencing. In our group I've found a few people (including our trainer =) ) interested in European longsword, so every week as an part of training we study techniques of German fencing school.
I use "Sigmund Ringeck's Knightly Art of the Longsword" by David Lindholm and Peter Svard, translation of Goliath and Meyer as primary resources now.

Best regards, Andrey.

Hello Andrey! Welcome. A few of our members speak Russian and soon I am sure they will post on here in your native tongue. It will depend I suppose on how invovled you will be able to be, the fact that you are located in Russia by itself, does not exclude you. I suggest that you e-mail John Clements, ARMA Director and put your question to him directly, OK? Until then you are more than welcome to post on the forum, and have access to a ton of info on the Website.- good luck in your journey!

Thank you for your answer, Aaron!
Ok, I will e-mail John Clements, that's good idea to speak with him directly about Association Membership.
About you website - it actually was my first journey to Western Martial Arts few years ago and in fact influenced me to start my study of longsword =)

You might contact Gene Tausk (a senior scholar and Russian speaker) and see what he has to say as well.
