I don't know if this is possible or not, but after looking at the "Charron test cutting thread", it would make it easier to read if each post were numbered and if each reply could have a reference to the number of the post that was being commented on.

As I said, I don't know if this is possible, it's just on my wishlist.

I'm pretty sure that's not available, but the best alternative I can tell you is to try using threaded mode by clicking on the "Threaded" link in the upper right hand corner to see the thread in a tree structure.
