Hello ladies and gentlemen scholars. My name is Michael Sheffield. You of course can just call me Mike. I live in Rosewood Heights Il with my wife Katie and son Nick. I am an amateur (at best) bladesmith. I love swords. I enjoy striving to make them one day, and their use. I of course got my start from my father who showed me what he knew of eastern martial arts. From there I have taken iaido. That of course spark my passion for making blades. But I want to be an all around bladesmith, so I want to learn about all aspects, from all cultures. I want to get your opinions as western stylests. To see how your style uses its tools. It will help me get a picture of how to make if I'm going to do say like a hand and a half. I think it will make me a better smith. So I joined the forms. Thank you for having me.

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah WI is a little ways away, but I do appreciate the invite. I will try to make it up there eventually.

Actually, we in ARMA Quad Cities are a bit closer than Aaron is. It's still a bit of a hike, at 250 miles or so. We are located in Davenport IA, which is right on the border of Illinois. If you can make it up, we'd love to meet you!

Wait right across from Rock Island? That is a little better...but still...Oh well. C'est la vie. Thanks for the invite. If I am ever up there on a day you guys are practicing I might bother you guys with a lot of questions. :)
