Looking for article

I was in here a while back and remember reading someone's thesis or article regarding the crusades. It pointed out that it wasn't a holy war, but in fact, they were defending their lands?

Did I read that in here somewhere? I looked in the articles and essays section already.

Do you mean this http://www.thearma.org/essays/Crusades.htm ?

The Crusades to the Holy Land were a holy war in which the Franks were defending/trying to recover eastern Christian lands. There were also other motivations and other Crusades, of course.
