I'm new...

Postby amy.e.peare » Wed Dec 08, 2010 10:10 pm

Hello all.

I've been aware of ARMA for some time now, and love watching the vids by you and other groups on Youtube. I decided to join the message board tonight as I am filling in scenes and polishing a novel I will send out in Feb of 2011. I have a friend who is a swordsman who is helping me with the fight scenes, to whom I am ever grateful, but I do also want a larger circle of folks to pick the brains of occasionally, who may have different areas of expertise. I really look forward to reading through all the questions and answers on the forum, and will try not to be too newbie-ly annoying, heh.

My 13 yo son is also interested in swordfighting and hopes to learn. I'd love to get him going with this in time. We are in the Eastern Greenville SC area. He's really enjoying the vids, and told me he was trying to copy some footwork he saw. (I had wondered why it sounded like elephants stampeding upstairs earlier today.) I'd love it if we could take him somewhere to see it done well in person. Any ideas for something local to us?

At any rate, I wanted to introduce myself, and not be a lurker. Thanks much for making this forum available.
Amy

Welcome Amy

Glad to hear that the ARMA site is of interest to both you and your son.

The closest study group seems to be about 3 hrs away in NC. If you go to the practice partners page you can get the contact info that you need.

You're not that far away from Athens, GA or Atlanta, home of the ARMA Director, either.
