Kody,
Welcome to the ARMA forum! My recommendation to you, would be that you contact the Study Group which is closest to you (there is one in Northern Virginia, I am not sure how close that is to you but, they could help you find one closer).
I would suggest (if possible) you visit a practice (even if you have to travel to visit one) because, this will allow you to meet with established members of the ARMA, who can guide you. In addition you can see (and possibly participate in) an ARMA practice session. This will allow you to see if you feel the ARMA is right for you. The Study Group members will gladly answer questions and give you more insight and information about our organization, practice and training structure, methodology, etc.
If the group is too far away for you to attend regular practices with them, they might offer advice on how to get started in your area. At this point, I highly recommend making that connection, they can help you proceed from there!
Best of luck to you! I hope you will find in the ARMA, a new home which will meet your needs as a student and practitioner of the Martial Arts of Renaissance Europe, provide intellectual stimulation, promote health, fitness and well rounded self-defense and martial arts skills, while allowing you to connect and develop comradery with many like minded people!
