Has anyone used the Hanwei fencing main gauche?

Postby Sal Bertucci » Mon Oct 31, 2011 10:36 am

I'm looking at one online, but wanted the advice of people that have actually used it.

Is it floppy or stiff?

Are the edges too square?

Does it fall apart easily?

Etc.

Thanks ahead of time!

If it's the one I'm thinking of, I haven't tried it, but Wes and Tom and I considered it for possible use with the Hanwei Practical Side Sword in our Di Grassi work. Considering how weak the side rings have turned out to be on that sword, we thought the quillons of that dagger looked too long and thin and figured there was a pretty high likelihood that they wouldn't survive very long before getting bent or broken. Cutting them shorter might solve that problem, but since we didn't know anything about the quality of the blade we decided it wasn't worth spending the money to get a pair right now.
