In an ironic and interesting twist of events, I had a phone call this evening with a game producer about collaborating on a sword related game. Hopefully details can be given soon...just as soon as I learn what's covered in the release form. :)

That's very good news, Allen Johnson!

If you're permitted to talk about it, I'm sure we'd all love to hear about that new game!

It would be fantastic to start seeing accurate swordplay in gaming.

Also, I forgot to comment on the list of movies you said your group worked on. That was an impressive list.

Well that was not me. That was Richard Ryan who did those fights. We just both happen to be in the same organization (SAFD). I had nothing to do with them. I can't say much yet but don't expect anything amazing. This is probably going to be a social media/facebook/smart phone/tablet style game. So the depth will be quite limited. It's also being based on something else, so again, less room for "accuracy".

Well hey. That's where the money is these days. And remember, even old fighting games back in the 90s and such aped moves from Bruce Lee, so you don't need much resolution or technology -- or even a lot of frames -- to make recognizable styles...

The only video game that shows some sort of accuracy when it comes to martial techniques would be assassins creed. It's pretty decent on there but everywhere else is pretty inaccurate.

Well, the Clang Kickstarter was funded, so hopefully sometime next year, we will actually see a swordfighting video game that blows everything that came before it out of the water!
