Postby Lance Chan » Sun Aug 03, 2003 10:13 am

for his fight. He's back from Canada not long ago and it's his first sparring in years. He wants to hear from you guys about the comments and want to improve with a proper direction. So here's his fight video clips:

Thanks. I'll ask him to come read your replies.

Hi Lance,
What weapon is the guy on the left supposed to be using?Single sword, or cut and thrust(I can't comment until I know for sure)? The stances look very ASian to me at a glance. What text/Master is he working from?
The guy on the right is obviously employing a generalized longsword fight. He needs to coordinate his footwork with the cuts a bit more. There are alot of crossed hand/foot techniques being done. That is why the cuts to the legs fall short. If he cuts from his right, the right leg should ideally follow. This will maximize reach and power as well as recovery for followups. The guy on the left landed a lot of leg cuts in spite of his shorter blade because his cutting side is usually in agreement with his feet.
