where to start

Im new here and i was just wondering what the best thing to do first is.

Well, that's a pretty broad question, but you should probably go here first:

Look around the site, read the articles, look at the manuals, etc. If you can get to a seminar, that's a great way to get started as well.

Hi Cortney, depending on where you are located, there might even be a study group or a solo practitioner near by. Nothing like hands on experience to start you on your way <img src="/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Also, what is your primary interest? Longsword, rapier, dagger, ect?

Whichever it is, you can't go wrong getting the basic footwork, stances, and strikes down.

Browse around the site, ask questions, and you'll have a good place to start.

Hi Courtney,
Good to see another female face. I'm also new here, but have been eating up as much of this site as I have time for and am learning the basic footwork and stances. Like everything else in life, nothing good comes easy or fast.
See if there is a study group in your area, check out the site thoroughly (that'll take a couple of years <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" /> ) and enjoy the journey.
