As an avid thruster I'll throw my cent and a half in... I also come from a fencing backgroud and thus do pretty good at gauging distance. Just when practicing by myself or during some casual sparring I kind of relax my blade...sometimes even pull it back and sudenly bring it up at my target and see if the tip is where I wanted it to be. That dosent make good dueling but its a little exercise I use to see if my tip is where I think it will be when I thrust. So distance and timing are what us thrusters rely alot on. Also being able to tell when some one is going to start their cut so you can quickly lunge into their preperation. Also many people, when thrusting tend to lead with their face. The body folds over and they push their upper body towards you. This is prime for you to drop your back foot to the side and thrust at their overextended head.

Hello everyone
Was reading the above post and just wondering if from Pflug if you were to Krump to either side depending on what side he thrust to and step the opposite direction from were you set his tip you could counter cut to his head, arm's/chest and your opponent would be hard pressed to defend himself. Have used this on a cross cut but may be something to try for a thrust. It is very quick and you have alot of control of the attacker's blade in this movement buying you time to do "Your Thing" . I am a big fan of controling the tempo of a fight i think it is an important often ignored tool.

But a thrust is also a good time to go into some winding, there are so many option's that you have but IMHO it seem's to be about the timing and distance. If you are at your distance then you have alot of option's but if it is your oponent's distance's you will have alot of problem's. is just MHO.
