"Wallace" sword

Postby Allen Johnson » Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:25 pm

Dont know how many of you saw this over at myarmoury.com or not but there was posted a series of fantastic photos of the sword of WIlliam Wallace in Stirling, Scotland. There is much well founded debate on the authenticity of the claim of it being his sword. For those of you who dont know the Cliff's Notes of the topic the story goes... Supposedly this monument in Scotland has the a sword personally belonging to William Wallace. He was raising cain in Scotland and England at the tail end of the 1200's. Once you see the sword you will know why there is debate- it looks nothing like known swords of that time period. You can look at the post and comments there for more details. Having personally been to this monument and having stood just inches from the sword, I really appreciate these high detail photos. The room is very dim and its quite difficult for anything to appear in the photos. Either way- I though people here might be interested in the debate.
