Reputable Dealer - Help

Postby Guest » Sun Feb 16, 2003 4:35 am

First of all thank you for your time in reading and responding to this...

I am looking to buy a gladius sword. I was going to buy one from albion armorers (www.albionarmorers.com) but before I did that I wanted to know if their swords and armor were well made. Here is what they say about the sword I want to buy:

"The hilt is hand crafted walnut and natural bone, and the blades are milled of 5160 steel, with the final grinding and clean up done by hand here at Albion. Each blade is individually heat treated in the Albion Forge Shop for maximum flexibility and cutting perfomance."

http://www.albionarmorers.com/swords/albion/mainzrheingonheim.htm

I don't know much about steel. I know what I've read from several articles on the arma webpage. I would like to know if anyone has had experience with albion armorers or if from what they say this sounds like its a good sword.

Also what are some questions I should ask Albion about the sword and how it was made?

Also if you could please give me some webpages on really good explainations of steel types and what to look out for in buying a sword I would be very appreciative.

Alibion is very nice to do business with.I have bought there and would highly recommend them to anyone. They seem to be real good people in general. I like the DT 5143 I got from there very much indeed.

Yes, I can vouch for Albions quality and customer service. They are one of the finest dealers around and their product just gets better and better. If I were to by a Gladius it would definately be from them.

Albion Armorers will be one of the vendors at the International Event in June and a little bird told me they will offer some fine swords for sale

Yes from the swords that Gary owns from Albion and talking with thier customer service I have to say that Albion is a very fine company.

Gary's swords from Albion are very nice and I tried to get him to sell me his Sword of War but with no luck

My next purchase is from Albion from thier Del Tin line.
