Unfortunately, the surviving legal texts are generally not very helpful in this regard, so I would like to examine the fechtbucher, among other sources. I know that Talhoffer devotes quite a bit of space to trial by combat, that those odd dueling shields are pictured in the Codex Wallerstein and that Paulus Hector Mair lists judicial dueling as one of several purposes for which the reader should study his system, but that's it. Are there other references to trial by combat in the manuals?
And if not in the manuals, then what about in period artwork or literature?
If anyone could point me towards more materials, I would greatly appreciate it. I figured it would be more efficient to tap into our collective knowledge than to dig through all of the manuals myself
