Hey guys, I just thought I'd post a thread to let those few people in Australia (especsially Victoria) know, that I have finally found a way to own a Sword.
The current weapons laws prevent Victorians from owning swords (even wooden wasters are banned depending on your interpretation), however after a long search I have found an Organisation called the Australasian* Knife Collectors Club that are expemt from weapons rule concerning knives, daggers and swords. It only costs $30au a year to join, you must store your weapons in a safe weighing no less than 150kg (or it must be bolted to the ground), and it permits you to transport it, and even train with it.
So, I will finally be able to get my sword (I'm just gonna check with the Police about all the rest of the details, and get my safe ready), then I can begin training in earnest. (So far I've been using a poorly made padded weapon, as I had to get rid of my waster and my blunts (which were of poor quality so its no loss), I still don't know how to own a legal axe, but my "padded" will do so long).
Anyway I hope this post helps someone, maybe we can get together and spar some time.
Cheers!
*Note it is the Autralasian not the Australian Knife Collectors Club.
