Chicago area study groups?

Postby Roger Blaylock » Thu Jun 18, 2009 9:05 pm

Hello all,

I've been lurking unregistered for quite awhile now and decided to take the plunge full on. :)

My question is of course in the subject line. I am currently untrained and I'm not too sure self training in my garage is going to be good enough. (Repeating mistakes or bad form from the first steps.) I would like to contact a group in the suburban Chicago area if able.

I did a quick forum search before posting this but am unsure if anything got off the ground w/previous attempts to contact others for study. So I apologise if this is an often repeated post.

About myself...
I'm a 42 year old father of 3 with a long time interest in western sword play. Being 6'3" I gravitate more to the hand and a half/Scottish claymore type swords. I will be ordering many of the books recomended on these forums to learn the very basics.

But again, a group setting is how I would prefer to learn. You tube only takes you so far lol.

Take care all, and thanks in advance for any pointers or advice I may receive here.

Roger.

If you go to the thread that was talking about the "sword in two hands" book, you can try and contact them. They're kinda close to Chicago (I think). Either way If you all for a group you could have people to stumble around with. Which is always better than stumbling around alone.
