Hello,
I am new to the forum and interested in joining the group. Im currently living in Oahu, but will be moving to Juneau at the end of the Month for work. Is there anyone in the Juneau area involved in this or interested in starting a group? I just found out about this and want to get into it full force. I have studied Isshin Ryu Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the past, but the idea that I can study the arts of my own ancestry is molto meglio!

Also, whats the best way to get started on my own, what type of sword to buy and from what company, which texts to start with, etc.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Joe

The first item you will need to get to train is a good quality waster (wooden training sword), the best on the market I am aware of can be found here:

Get started training solo right away, once you have one or more training partners you will also need a good quality mask, (regular 3-weapon fencing masks work fine) a cup, and optionally hand protection.
